Curettage is a treatment involving mechanical removal of skin changes.
Curettage
Indications:
- viral warts i.e. verruca
- flat warts
- seborrheic warts
- molluscum contagiosum
- epidermal nevi
Contraindications:
- bleeding disorder
- uncontrolled diabetes
Treatment description
After anticipatory anaesthesia of the change, it is mechanically removed with the use of curette of various sizes.
Post treatment indications
- avoid solarium and sun exposure for a fortnigh
- in case of changes with viral aetiology it is recommended to apply iodine tincture solution for 3 days on the changes treated
Convalescence time: In the place of mark removal appears erosive skin covered with crust, what is a proper remedial skin procedure. During daily care you should pay attention not to destroy it, as it enables a better healing process.
Time: depending on the amount of changes 15-30 minutes
Anaesthesia: yes (ethyl chloride or infiltrative anaesthesia e.g. Lignokaina)
